Cru Mug
The objective when creating a vector artwork of the heart of Highline College campus, requested by Highline Cru, was to eventually have it printed on mugs. A challenged faced while designing was how to simplify designs from reality into vector, and what to keep, to what to omit from the location.

The first step in designing the artwork of the heart of Highline College campus, was to visit the location and sketch out the building designs, pulling out the main shapes and important details of the surroundings. Photos were also taken for reference later. The next step was to take those designs and use the mug template to find the best layout.
Scanning the layout sketch to digitalize it and dropping it into adobe illustrator, the process of transforming the sketch into vector began. Grayscale was used in the fist step of vectorizing to focus on shapes and layout.
When most of the layout and the shapes had been finalized, the next part was to start on color. The inspiration for the color pallet was Washinton's cloudy grey skys, the lush evergreens and the beautiful colors of the Highline College campus during autumn.
